DoDEA Schools in the Spotlight at FRC's Pray, Vote, Stand Summit 2024
Family Research Council held its Pray, Vote, Stand Summit in Washington, D.C., last week, and I was invited to share my family’s experience with a Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) school. I also shared about the exciting possibility of a school choice pilot program for military children overseas that could become a reality if Congress includes it in the final version of the FY25 National Defense Authorization Act this fall.
This panel conversation really just scratched the surface of the research that has been conducted on DoDEA schools over the past three years, and I didn’t mention the many other actions Congress has taken in an attempt to bring this agency to heel or the other parents I know who have gone up against this federal Goliath at great personal cost. If you’d like to know more, please read my past posts that link to reports from Open the Books and The Claremont Institute, numerous news articles, FOIA responses, IG reports, etc.
Progress has been made on a couple of fronts, but true reform at DoDEA and education freedom for military children have a long way to go.
